【Divan
Following our department’s last Team-building trip, I was very enthusiastic to learn that we will once again be able to exchange the familiarity of Songjiang for a day of adventure, this time at the beautifully preserved “Nine Creeks and Eighteen Gullies” in Hangzhou. Marco Polo once wrote, “it is without a doubt the finest and most splendid city in the world.” I am not sure that I share his belief to that extent- as I intend to travel quite a bit more before selecting my finest, but I have to agree that the 6km stretch of forestland and hillside tea plantations is definitely something of the marvellous that I consider myself lucky to have experienced.
Upon our arrival at Nine Creeks, we we’re quickly divided into three different groups to establish names, cheers and strategy and with a little bit of initial reluctance and a whole lot of innovation and creativity, the ‘Teams’…started ‘building’. We’ve recently been incredibly busy and we all needed some sort of collective escape to confirm that we’re able to talk about something else than just the latest turn in school events. This was the perfect escape and I am glad I went! I can honestly say that I had a fantastic time with my colleagues as we lunched, laughed, supported and photographed our way through the creeks, gullies and hills.
My advice to you regarding the next Team-trip would be to limit the amount of pictures you take and make a conscious attempt to really enjoy yourself and be present in your surroundings. Most of the time it’s far more interesting than the screens on our phones.
