Theme: Our Nature

Teacher’s name: Mark

Class: k2E

Description:

We live in a world filled with beautiful and diverse things within nature. Environmental problems are a growing concern. For kindergarten children, they need to know some of the names of things in nature. The sun, the moon, the stars, the clouds, rain, snow, wind, grass, trees, and flowers are a good start, along with basic conceptual knowledge and related vocabulary. These can be taught in English as a language lesson. In order to excite an interest in these children for this topic’s language learning, and to help stimulate their love for nature, I made this lesson with a combination of styles – tactile, auditory, sensory, social, solitary, logical, etc – utilizing rhythm, music, models, lots of teaching aids, and an MV for the children. I hope our children can have an amazing lesson.

Objectives:

1) To teach kids words about nature and why to love nature…

2)To involve kids in physical activities for physical and mental coordination and development…

3) To help develop speech and enunciation…

Materials:

computer, speakers, TV, flashcards, table, chairs, vocal cords, water, drum sticks, the floor, hand bells, 3d models of words, white board clips, name wheel, water bottle, pencils

Procedure in details:

1、Warm up songs-

1) What time is it?

2) Days of the week

3) 12 months in a year

2、Core teaching section

1) Teach a whole bunch of key words /sentences linked to nature.

Teacher guides kids by singing together: “What is in your bag?”, then picking a flash card from the bag. (the flash card should be sun, moon, tree, star, etc.)

Nature song:  The sun, the moon, the stars in the sky.

The cloud holds rain and snow.

The wind blows through the grass and the trees.

Ohp!  There’s a flower…

(at the end all the class kids do a flower action pose.)

2) Develop kids comprehension about the nature

“Can I touch the sun?”

“Why can I not touch the sun?”

“Can I eat the moon?”

“Can I touch the star?”

3、 Activity/ Game- Bell Ring Game

Teacher provide two sets of hand-made materials with models of the sun, the moon, the star, the cloud, the rain, the grass, and the tree on the top. Each model has a colored bell below.

Teacher points to the wheel, and kids chant together “Spin the wheel, spin the wheel.”and teacher spins the wheel while kids watch as it slows to point to only one name. The kid selected uses a pencil to hit the bell under the sun, he will say: “I can see the sun in the sky.”

Then, teacher uses the pencil to hit the bells in a sequence that represents the song they know, and kids recognize it as the nature song. All the kids sing the song together.

At the end, kids pop up and pretend to be their amazing flower.
